Children and Family Ministries Director- Part- time

Baker Memorial UMC (  is seeking an enthusiastic, creative and energetic individual to lead our Children and Family Ministries.  The Director of Children and Family Ministries will be responsible for designing programs that engage children in faith development and help families live into their baptismal commitment to raise their children such that they will desire to profess the Christian faith for themselves.

  • Familiarity with the theology and doctrine of the United Methodist Church

  • Ability to effectively handle multiple projects in an organized and efficient manner
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Able to effectively and efficiently delegate and coordinate through/with others.

Church Accountant Part-Time

Role Summary:
The All Church Accountant will consolidate and perform the accounting activities for the Trustees, Endowment and Finance committees as well as work with other church committees who have financial income and expenses.  The all church accountant will possess sufficient skills in accounting and finance to prepare the financial statements, be responsible for the general ledger and reconciliation of accounts.  This position will work closely with the church staff in all finance and accounting matters.. They should also have the experience needed to coordinate the audit of the church books if needed.  


Key Responsibilities:
  • Charge of creating and maintaining the Chart of Accounts for all church ministries.  Review accounts as needed but no less than on an annual basis.
  • Prepared needed monthly journal entries as needed.
  • Complete bank reconciliations on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare and distribute written monthly balance sheet and income reports for use by Trustees, Finance committee and Church Council.
    • Provide analysis of the budget and actual expenses in reports to committees during the year and analysis of any large expenditures or variances from budget.
    • Provide support for check writing i.e. ensure that checks are written out of the proper funds and account coding as correct for the expenditure.
  • Monitor compliance with established procedures and recommend any changes needed to the finance committee for approval.
    • Will assist the church staff and the finance committee in the preparation of the annual budget.
    • Input budget into Church Windows annually.
  • Monitor monthly reports for the Endowment Committee from the Trust Company of Illinois (TCI) and provide information to the Endowment committee.
  • Prepare or approve the annual reports required by the United Methodist Church.
  • Work with the finance committee relating to an audit or review of the Church financial records.


Job Requirements:


Preferred:   CPA


Accounting Experience, Familiarity with fund accounting would be helpful

Skills preferred:

Personal:   Experience with Church Windows; Familiarity with fund accounting would be helpful
