“Let the Redeemed of the Lord Say So” By Rev. Ronni VerboomWritten by Tracy Hulett on Sep 25, 2013 in - No Comments
Hosea. He was an Old Testament prophet who ministered to the northern kingdom of Israel around 700-odd years before the birth of Christ. There was a war waging with Assyria and his people were living in virtual anarchy. Four kings were assassinated in fifteen years. The religious practices of the people went haywire. Hosea had family problems. He married Gomer, a woman who had been a prostitute. She had three children, of whom Hosea may not have been the father, then she left him. But Hosea still loved her. He brought her back publicly, taking her again as his wife. The book of Hosea shows a reflection in Hosea’s life of the love God has for God’s children. Hosea deals with Gomer as God deals with Israel.
