In Proverbs 22:6, it is written "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."  In the spirit of this proverb, our nursery is staffed by loving, caring women and men who will help your child begin his or her Christian life.

Keeping In Touch

Our Nursery is equipped with a 24-module paging system that permits us to discreetly contact you at a moment's notice during the worship service. Each parent bringing a child to our nursery will receive a pager.  You will be paged for such reasons as:

  • Your child cries continuously for ten minutes.

  • Your child becomes ill or hurt.

  • Your child needs to be nursed.

  • The nursery is in need of another adult.

For security purposes, no child will be released to anyone except the parent returning the pager.

Parent Responsibilities

  • The first time you bring your child to our Nursery, the Nursery Supervisor will register your child and instruct you in our check in procedures.

  • It is your responsibility to fill out a name tag and place it on the back of your child.  Please be sure to also label all diaper bags, bottles, and sippy cups.

  • Please pick up your child promptly after the worship service.  No child will be released to anyone except the parent returning the pager.

  • Please do not bring any toys from home.

  • Please do not send your child with any food.

  • Volunteer to help in the nursery.

Nursery Maintenance

John Wesley said that "cleanliness is next to Godliness."  Care is taken in following sanitary diapering procedures and potty visits.  For children needing cribs, clean bedding is provided.  Toys that come in contact with a child's mouth are washed each week, and all equipment and toys are sanitized four times a year.

About the Stained Glass Windows. . .

The beautiful stained glass windows in our nursery, crafted by Henry J. Willett of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, were installed when the church was built in 1954. They are low to the floor so young children can see them, and they depict many Bible stories of interest to children.

In the quiet room, there is a depiction of Christ surrounded by children, inspired by Matthew 19:14: But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. This image is surrounded by scenes of children at play and at worship.

The small windows that span both rooms depict several Biblical scenes. Except for the first one, each window is inspired by a Bible story where a child has a prominent role:

Left–The ark of Noah, inspired by Genesis 6.
Center–The young Joseph receiving his coat of many colors, inspired by Genesis 37.
Right–The infant Moses in the bulrushes, inspired by Exodus 2.
