Our Sunday
School program at Baker is the heart of our Christian Education
ministry.
During the
9:00 worship service, children are offered age-appropriate ways of
learning about God, hearing the stories of the Bible, and growing in
faith and love of God and neighbor.
Children
age 3 through 3rd grade begin the hour in their Sunday School classrooms
before gathering in the Chapel for a brief time of worship, centered
around song, prayer, and the sharing of offerings. They then
return to their classrooms, where their teachers offer lessons based on
biblical stories, and featuring arts, crafts, and other activities.
Children
in 4th grade through middle school attend classes which utilize the Live
B.I.G. (Believe in God) curriculum, a DVD based series that encourages
the students to grow in their knowledge of the faith and their
understanding of what it means to live as disciples of Jesus Christ.
High
School students gather in the Youth Room each week, for a study designed
to increase their ability to “think theologically,” that is, to bring
together their faith with their experiences in the world. Looking
at Scripture, using Reason, Experience, and Tradition, the students
learn to look for God and make ethical choices.
"Do all that you can,
By all
the means that you can,
In all the ways that you can,
In all the
places that you can
At all the times you can,
To all the people
that you can
As long as ever you can."
