Testimonials

“Over the years I have attended several different denominations in different parts of the country.  When we first came to Geneva about three years ago, I began looking for a new church home.  I noticed that Baker Memorial UMC had a Jazz service; being a jazz fan I decided to check it out.  Turns out there is also a great organ here with dedicated organists.  I tried several other churches in the area but selected Baker Memorial as my new church home partly because I enjoy the music, but also due to the on-point messages from the pastor, the warmth of the congregation, and the beauty of the building.  There is a “coffee break” between services that provides a good time to meet other folks.”                                         – Gerald Laws

richetti-family“When we moved to St. Charles recently, we were looking for a church home that had an active youth program, a warm and welcoming feeling, and opportunities to explore and grow our faith in ways with which we felt comfortable. Baker and its wonderful people and programs have exceeded all our expectations – we feel very lucky – thank you!”                                         – The Richetti Family

Baker MemorHalesial provides our family with an active faith community where we can all participate and grow in God’s love. Our children have fun singing in the children’s choirs and the many family events while Bible studies and small group activities add to our experience.                                                              -Rob, Mandy, Zander, and Ceci Hale

“From the first time we attended, Baker was a warm and friendly place. Many people introduced themselves to us and made sure we felt welcome. We appreciate the emphasis on the importance of Christian education for all, children through adults, and that the spiritual education of children is very purposeful and deliberate, not taken for granted.  Our children have really enjoyed their Sunday school classes and their teachers, circle and youth group leaders. Christian service is taken seriously and each member is encouraged to discover and use their unique spiritual gifts in very creative ways.

The special activities are not only great fun but knit the congregation members together. The services are conducted with an attitude of worship and beauty (in an absolutely gorgeous sanctuary.)  The music is outstanding. Our children say they love the fact that they can participate in a choir and bell choir.

Through our daughter’s serious illness, we have experienced the all-encompassing prayer support of the staff and the congregation. This church has truly become our second ‘home’ and second ‘family.’ ”                                                                                            – The Lewis Family
